UMich Sexual Misconduct Policy

The University of Michigan not only requires victims of sexual violence to be directly cross-examined by their perpetrators, but believes this to be less traumatic than questioning by attorneys.

The Mens Rea Project

When it comes to a victim's incapacitation, most sexual assault statutes and university sexual misconduct policies include an unnecessary requirement that is nearly impossible to prove.

State of Michigan's Incapacitation Definition

In the state of Michigan, if a person engages in a sexual act with a victim who is unconscious or too intoxicated to consent, this is not considered sexual assault if the victim willingly drank alcohol.

Free Therapists for UMich Survivors
